Admirals Shoot Down Stars, Take over First Place

Austin, TX - Goalie Juuse Saros pitched a 28-save shutout to lead the Milwaukee Admirals to a 2-0 Wednesday night at the Cedar Park Center.

Saros had to be sharp to start the game as Texas outshot Milwaukee 8-2 in the first ten minutes of the game. Saros finished with 12 first period saves en route to his fourth shutout of the season.

With the win, the Admirals grabbed sole possession of first place in the Central Division with a .652 winning percentage. The Admirals began the night tied with Grand Rapids with a .646 points percentage.

Milwaukee got on the board with a power play goal at 17:50 of the first period. Stefan Elliott fired a wrist shot from the top of the left circle that found its way into the net over the glove of Stars goalie Maxime Lagace while Cody Bass was camped in front. Elliott's goal was his fifth of the season, all on the power play. Frederick Gaudreau and Taylor Aronson recorded the assists.

The Ads sealed the win with another power play goal at 16:10 of the third period. Max Gortz fired a shot from the high slot that went just under the crossbar for his 16th goal of the season. The goal was Gortz' ninth power play goal. Cody Bass and Kevin Fiala were awarded assists.

The Ads will remain in Texas to play the Stars Sat., Mar. 26. Milwaukee returns home to host Grand Rapids Tues., Mar. 29 at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
