Milwaukee Admirals News Release

Nashville Predators Executive Vice President/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has signed free-agent forward Tony Hrkac (HUHR-kuhz). The veteran center will report to the Milwaukee Admirals.

Hrkac, 37 (7/7/66), has posted 132 goals and 239 assists (132g-239a-371pts) in 758 NHL games over 12 seasons with St. Louis, Quebec, San Jose, Chicago, Dallas, Edmonton, the New York Islanders, Anaheim and Atlanta. The 5-10, 190-pound Thunder Bay, Ontario native posted a career-high 18 goals with Atlanta in 2001-02 and has recorded over 40 points in four of his NHL campaigns.

The 1987 Hobey Baker Memorial Trophy winner (top U.S. collegiate player) led the Admirals in scoring during both the 1994-95 and 1996-97 seasons. During his tenure in Milwaukee, Hrkac averaged more than a point per game, totaling 221 points (65g-156a) in 195 games. His 91 points in 94-95 are the most by an Admirals' player in ten years. He also captured the IHL's Most Valuable Player award after a 132-point (45g-87a-132pts) season with Indianapolis in 1992-93.

"We are thrilled to have a player of Tony's talent," said Admirals' Executive Vice President/General Manager Phil Whitliff. "In addition to his on-ice talent, he will also be able to serve as an excellent mentor for our younger players."

A 1998 NHL Expansion Draft selection of the Predators (from Pittsburgh), Hrkac was dealt by Nashville to Dallas for future considerations on July 9, 1998 and went on to capture the Stanley Cup with the Stars in 1999. He was originally St. Louis' second choice, 32nd overall (second round), in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft.
