Vandermeer Brothers To Make Special Visit To Quadruplets
November 4, 2003 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Adirondack Phantoms News Release
Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Jim Vandermeer and Phantoms left wing Peter Vandermeer will bring joy and gifts to the McGrory quadruplets, Sean, Brendan, Colin, and Ella, who were born to Chuck and Alissa on August 29, 2003. The visit will take place at the family's home in Ridley Park.
The McGrory family has been Flyers season ticket holders for 12 years and they named their cat "Coatsey" after Flyers broadcaster, Steve Coates. The babies were born at Pennsylvania Hospital by Dr. Peter Gearhart, who is also a Flyers season ticket holder.
Peter, 28, and Jim, 23, are among six brothers - Joe, 26, Dan, 25, Bill, 19, and Ted, 17, who all play hockey either professionally or at the junior level. Among the gifts the players will be bringing are Flyers bottles, Phantoms socks, first-tooth ceramic boxes and, courtesy of Graco children's products, two back seat car organizers and two playshades.
