Milwaukee Admirals News Release

Milwaukee, WI - Benoit Pouliot scored two goals and Tomas Mojzis added two assists to help the Houston Aeros cruise past the Milwaukee Admirals 4-1 Wednesday night at the Bradley Center.

The Admirals managed a season low 16 shots on goal during the game, including just seven in the first two periods combined and found themselves down three goals after 40 minutes of play. Milwaukee has now dropped two games in a row in regulation for the first time since December 19th and 20th and just the third time all season.

The first tally of the night came from Benoit Pouliot on a hard wrist shot from just above the hash marks over the shoulder of Admirals netminder Drew MacIntyre with assists from Jesse Schultz and Tomas Mojzis. Less than a minute later at 8:30 of the 1st period Maxim Noreau scored with a slapshot that blew past a screened MacIntyre before he could see it coming.

There was no scoring in the second period until the Aeros took a commanding 3-0 lead with just 1:34 remaining in the stanza, when Benoit Pouliot scored his second of the night on a fluttery wrist shot that took a funny hop over the stick of Drew MacIntyre. The assists were given to Mojzis and Marco Rosa, and the Admirals had to enter the third period with a three goal deficit

The Admirals would finally see some action on the scoreboard at 8:56 of the third period when Kelsey Wilson knocked home a rebound for his 15th of the season with an assist coming from Cody Franson.

However, the momentum was cut short when Krys Kolanos batted home his 26th of the season with just over three minutes left in the game on a Houston power-play to cancel out any hopes that Milwaukee had of making a comeback.

"I don't even think we remotely came to play, said Admirals Head Coach Lane Lambert. "And that for me is the single most disappointing thing about the day, the night, and the game."

Wednesday night's loss marks the third loss in the last four games for the Admirals, with their lone win coming over Hamilton on Sunday evening. However, in spite of the loses, Milwaukee has clinched home-ice in the first round of the playoffs with Rockford's loss to Iowa on Wednesday night.

The Admirals travel to Peoria on Friday night before returning to the Bradley Center on Saturday night at 7:30 pm to host the Iowa Chops. After the game, Styx will perform live in concert that is free with a game ticket. Fans can buy tickets for any Admirals game by calling Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000 or online at www.ticketmaster.com. Groups of ten or more people receive a minimum of $2 off of each ticket.
