Admirals Can't Win Rat Race

Milwaukee, WI-The Milwaukee Admirals surrendered three second period goals, including two on the power play, and dropped a 3-2 decision to the Albany River Rats Tuesday night at the Bradley Center. The loss was the third straight for the Admirals, who are back on the ice tomorrow night in Grand Rapids.
The Admirals outshot the River Rats 15-7 in the first period and took a 1-0 lead when Ramzi Abid posted his second goal of the season during a five-on-three advantage at the 14:53 mark. Admirals defenseman Sheldon Brookbank fired a shot from the high slot that deflected off of Abid's stick, popped into the air and landed behind Albany backstop Tyler Weimen. Alexander Radulov also added an assist on the play.
The second period would be the downfall for the Admirals as they saw their 1-0 lead quickly evaporate into a 2-1 deficit with two Shane Willis goals. The Ads battled back and tied the game on a shorthanded goal by Rich Peverley at 16:21 of the period. With Milwaukee attempting to kill a Pat Leahy tripping penalty, Abid cleared the puck out of the Admirals zone and found Peverley streaking up ice. The Ads center took the puck and, after driving hard into the Rats zone, fired a wrister from the right circle that beat Weimen to the glove side and evened the score at two.
However, it wasn't long before the Admirals found themselves back down by a goal at 3-2 when Keith Aucoin took advantage of penalties to Peverley and Ville Koistenen and scored a five-on-three tally with just 14 seconds remaining in the stanza. Kyle Cumiskey and Wisconsin native Pat Dwyer assisted on the marker.
In the third period the Admirals had a number of quality scoring chances, including a power-play with five minutes to go and another 47 seconds of six-on-five when Goehring was pulled in favor of an extra attacker, but they couldn't find the back of the net.
Radulov, who was recently reassigned from Nashville, extended his scoring streak to four games with his assist on Abid's red-lighter. Goehring stopped 23 shots in his first action since an October 13th start versus Chicago.
The Admirals are back at the Bradley Center this Saturday for a 1:30 matinee with the Peoria Rivermen at the Bradley Center. The first 4,000 fans will receive a set of dog tags, courtesy of Pedigree.
