Admirals Cam Barker and Troy Brouwer Head to Chicago

CHICAGO, IL - Chicago Blackhawks General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the Blackhawks have recalled defenseman Cam Barker and right winger Troy Brouwer from the Norfolk Admirals.

Barker, 20, is a 6'3", 213 lb. rookie defenseman from Winnipeg, Manitoba. He played one game with the Admirals after being returned to Norfolk from Chicago last Sunday, going scoreless with no penalty minutes on Sunday in Philadelphia.

Barker was recalled to Chicago on January 14 and appeared in his first four games of the season with the Blackhawks, recording one goal and four penalty minutes. The goal was his first NHL tally and occurred on January 14 in Chicago versus the Minnesota Wild.

Barker was drafted by the Blackhawks in the first round (third overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. Barker has now appeared in five career NHL games with one goal and four penalty minutes.

In 31 games with Norfolk this season, Barker has five goals and eight assists for 13 points and 49 penalty minutes. He made his Admirals debut on November 3 after missing the first part of the 2006-07 season recuperating from off-season ankle surgery.

Brouwer (pronounced "BROW-uhr"), 21, is a 6'3", 220 lb. rookie right wing from Vancouver, British Columbia. He is currently ranked fifth in the American Hockey League and third on the Norfolk Admirals in scoring with 53 points. He is also the second-highest scoring rookie in the AHL.

Brouwer skated in two games for the Blackhawks in his first NHL call-up in December, going scoreless with no penalty minutes. He made his NHL debut on December 23 against the Colorado Avalanche in Denver.

Brouwer has appeared in 44 games for the Admirals this season and has scored 25 goals while adding 28 assists for 53 points with 47 penalty minutes and a +7 rating. His 13 power play tallies are tied for third most in the AHL.

Brouwer was the Blackhawks' 7th round pick (214th overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft out of Moose Jaw in the Western Hockey League. Last season for Moose Jaw, he had a career season scoring 49 goals and 102 points in 72 games. He won the WHL scoring title and was the only player in the WHL to top the 100 point mark.

The Admirals are now preparing for a Friday night showdown against their East Division rivals, the Hershey Bears.
