Alaska Aces News Release

ANCHORAGE, AK - Tim Coffman had 3 assists, Peter Sivak scored 1 goal and added 1 assist, and the Alaska Aces held off the Utah Grizzlies Saturday night 3-2. It was the Aces first win over Utah after 8 straight losses this season.

Charles Sarault gave the Grizzlies a 1-0 lead at 4:11 of the first period with his 7th goal of the season. Aces defenseman Mitch Jones answered with a power play strike just 3 minutes later. Jones blasted a shot past Utah goaltender Mark Owuya after the puck glanced off Coffman's skate to the top of the left circle at 7:12. The goal was Jones' first as a pro.

In the second period, Sivak batted in a loose puck from the crease, his 5th goal of the season, to make it 2-1 Aces at 12:21. Collin Valcourt would score what proved to be the game-winning goal at 16:29 on the power play, deflecting a William Wrenn shot past Owuya.

Utah's Barry Almeida completed the scoring with his 10th goal of the season at 10:11 of the third period.

Alaska goaltender Troy Redmann made 30 saves for the win. Owuya knocked aside 35 Aces shots in the loss.
