Aces Sign Ambroz, Announce Playoff Roster

The 2010-2011 Brabham Cup Champion Alaska Aces have signed forward Matt Ambroz, and added him to their 2011 Kelly Cup Playoff roster that was submitted to the league on Monday afternoon. The Aces 23-man roster contains 13 forwards, 8 defensemen, and 2 goaltenders. The Aces receive a bye through the opening round of the playoffs, and will begin their 2011 Kelly Cup Post-Season on Friday, April 15th in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semi-Finals at Sullivan Arena. Ambroz, 24, joins the Aces following a four-year collegiate career at the University of Nebraska - Omaha. This season, as a senior, Ambroz led the team in goals and finished second in points posting 17 goals, 17 assists, and 34 points in 39 games. His 17 goals this season placed him in the top-10 most productive goal scoring seasons in Mavericks history. Overall, in his four seasons in Omaha, the 6'4", 210 lbs. forward totaled 90 points (43g, 47a) and 248 PIM in 154 games. A native of New Prague, MN, Abroz joins the Aces for the start of his pro career.

16 of the 23 players on the Aces playoff roster were on Alaska's opening-day roster, and 11 of the 23 are rookies this season.

The Aces forwards are: Matt Ambroz, Scott Burt, Ethan Cox, Alex Dzielski, Kory Falite, Curtis Fraser, Wes Goldie, Scott Howes, Dan Kissel, Chris Langkow, Garry Nunn, Tyler Ruegsegger, and Brian Swanson.

The Aces defensemen are: Chad Anderson, Daryl Boyle, Brandon Gentile, Mark Isherwood, Kane Lafranchise, Bryan Miller, Russ Sinkewich, and Steve Ward.

Alaska's goaltenders are: Gerald Coleman and Adam Courchaine.

On Monday, each of the 15 ECHL teams that qualified for the post-season submitted a 23-man roster of available players for the full duration of the playoffs. As the top seed in the Western Conference, the Aces will host the winner of the opening-round series between the Las Vegas Wranglers and the Idaho Steelheads.

The Aces 2011 Kelly Cup Post-Season begins on Friday, April 15th in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semi-Finals.
