Aces Scrap Their Way Past Allen 5-1 Wednesday

Alaska Aces News Release
ANCHORAGE, ALASKA - Peter Sivak scored twice, Mitch Jones tallied once and added 2 assists, and Ryan Tesink chipped in with 1 goal and 1 assist as the Alaska Aces scrapped their way to a 5-1 win
Wednesday over the Allen Americans at the Sullivan Arena.
Scrapping was the operative verb in the first period as the teams combined for four fighting majors, one spearing major and game misconduct, along with 4 roughing minors.
Scoring-wise, the Aces jumped to a 1-0 lead on Jones 5th goal of the season. His shot from theleft circle hit Allen goaltender Joel Rumpel and tumbled into the net at 6:42. After that, Sivak turned a ghastly turnover into Aces delight with his 10th goal of the season from the lower left circle. His wrister eluded a lunging Rumpel at 13:28.
In the second period, the teams settled down and played hockey without the rough stuff, and that worked well for Alaska. Ryan Tesink scored his 8th goal of the season on a tap-in of a Garet Hunt feed at 2:38, and Colin Valcourt snapped a wrist shot past Rumpel at 4:53 for his 9th of the season. That goal chased Rumpel from the net and Peter Di Salvo came in in relief.
Allen got on the board in the third period with Chad Costello, the leading scorer in the ECHL, firing a bullet past Alaska goaltender Troy Redmann at 1:30. It was Costello's 19th goal of the season.
Sivak got the final goal at 18:31 of the third, banking a centering pass off an Allen skate and into the net for his 11th goal of the season.
Rumpel made 5 saves, Di Salvo 16 for Allen. Redmann stopped 22 Americans shots.
The two teams will play again Friday and Saturday nights at the Sullivan Arena.
It will be Aces Hall of Fame weekend. For tickets, stop by the Aces ticket office at 15th and Gambell Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm or go online at www.alaskaaces.com.
