Reno Aces News Release
RENO, Nev. - Pedro Ciriaco hit a fourth-inning grand slam, and Bryan Augenstein struck out a career-high 11 batters as Reno cruised to a 12-2 victory over Salt Lake Saturday night at Aces Ballpark.
The Aces scored 11 runs from the second to the fourth innings, capped off with Ciriaco's slam. Reno used timely hitting-going 6-for-14 with runners in scoring position-and capitalized on nine Salt Lake walks to put up its second double-digit scoring output in its last six games.
Augenstein and the Aces bullpen did the rest, holding the Bees scoreless until a Brandon Wood two-run homer in the ninth.
Augenstein (4-6) started for the Aces, earning the victory and contributing 11 of the 17 strikeouts recorded by Aces pitchers. Jose Marte struck out five in two innings, and Daniel Stange tossed the final inning to close the door on the Bees.
Reno scored 11 of its 12 runs against Bees' starter Trevor Reckling (4-6), who tossed 3.1 innings and took the loss for Salt Lake.
Three Reno starters recorded multi-hit games, led by Ciriaco, who finished just a triple short of a cycle. Tony Abreu, playing with Reno on a Major League Rehabilitation Assignment, added two doubles and a single, while Drew Macias knocked in three runs for the Aces.
The Aces and Bees conclude the series Sunday afternoon, with Reno RHP Kevin Mulvey (1-5, 5.07 ERA) set to face Bees RHP Sean O'Sullivan (5-4, 4.94 ERA). First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m. from Aces Ballpark, and 1,500 fans 12 and under will receive an Aces hat.
Tickets for all Aces games start at just $7, and are available by calling the Reno Aces box office at (775) 334-7000 or by visiting RenoAces.com. The brand-new Freight House District, located just outside Aces Ballpark, is open seven days a week, on both game days and non-game days.
