New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release

For the third time in 2010, the New Orleans Zephyrs completed a four-game series by taking the finale against the Round Rock Express, winning Sunday night 4-3 at Zephyr Field.

New Orleans scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the first inning as Mike Lamb notched a RBI single.

Round Rock tied the game in the top of the third inning when Chris Johnson laced a RBI single of his own. But the Z's would waste little time in regaining the lead, as Lamb connected on his second RBI single of the game in the bottom half of the inning. .

NOLA would take a 3-1 advantage in the bottom of the fifth when Brett Carroll hit the Zephyrs' third run-scoring single of the game.

Round Rock rallied to tie the score in the top of the sixth inning, plating back-to-back runs on a bases loaded walk and an RBI single.

A Round Rock injury helped the Zephyrs score the eventual winning run in the bottom of the inning, as center fielder Yordany Ramirez had to leave the game after crashing into the wall making a catch. Brian Bogusevic was moved to center field, but was unable to track down a fly ball off the bat of Gookie Dawkins that landed for a one-out double, putting runners at second and third.

After intentionally walking Scott Cousins, the Express got a double play ground ball to second off the bat of Neil Wilson, but Cousins stayed in a rundown long enough to allow the tying run to score before the third out could be recorded.

Zephyrs starter Brian Lawrence allowed three earned runs over 5 2/3 innings, surrendering eight hits and three walks while striking out seven in a no decision.

Brett Sinkbeil (1-2) got the win with 1 1/3 innings of relief, and Scott Strickland notched his eighth save after a scoreless ninth inning.

Yorman Bazardo (1-1) took the loss for Round Rock, allowing one run on two hits and three walks over two innings of work.

The Z's embark on an eight-game road trip, with four games at both Oklahoma City and Memphis. First pitch between the Zephyrs and Redhawks from AT & T Bricktown Ballpark is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
