Bridgeport Islanders News Release
UNIONDALE, N.Y. (Nov. 7, 2013) - The New York Islanders have announced that they have recalled defenseman Aaron Ness from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
Ness, 23, last appeared for the Islanders in 2011-12, when he appeared in nine contests for the team. He skated in 167 games for the Sound Tigers from 2011-13 and scored 62 points (10 goals, 25 assists). Prior to his recall, Ness had appeared in more games for the Sound Tigers than any other player on the active roster. He was also named an alternate captain prior to the start of the 2013-14 season.
Drafted in the second round (40th overall) of the 2008 NHL Draft, Ness made his professional debut at the end of the 2011 season following a three-year career at the University of Minnesota. As a member of the Golden Gophers, he played in 111 games and collected 43 points (six goals, 37 assists). He was also named 2008 Minnesota Mr. Hockey prior to collegiate career.
The Sound Tigers will play three games in three days beginning on the road Saturday against the Hershey Bears. They'll return home for a Sunday afternoon contest against the Adirondack Phantoms before heading to Albany to face the Devils on Monday.
