Aaron Baker Named Carolina League Player of the Week

Frederick, MD - Frederick Keys first baseman Aaron Baker has been named Carolina League Player of the Week for June 18th - June 24th after the slugger belted three homeruns and two doubles to go along with seven RBI in that span.

Ranked by Baseball America as having the best power in the Baltimore Orioles organization, Baker leads the Carolina League in homeruns with 14 after hitting four homeruns in his past five games and five homeruns in his past eight.

Baker becomes the second Key to win Player of the Week honors, as outfielder Ronnie Welty was awarded the distinction back on April 23rd.

Baker, in addition to leading the Carolina League in homeruns, ranks fourth in the league with 48 RBI and fifth in slugging with a .506 clip.

Entering the 2012 season ranked as the 14th-best Orioles prospect by Baseball America, Baker holds a triple slash line of .249 / .331 / .506 through 66 games with the Keys.

Baker was traded to the Orioles at the trade deadline on July 30th, 2011 from the Pirates in exchange for three-time Gold Glove winner and two-time All-Star Derrek Lee.
