No-No Powers Northcraft to CL "Pitcher of the Week" Honors

Lynchburg, VA- The Lynchburg Hillcats are proud to announce that RHP Aaron Northcraft has been named the Carolina League's "Pitcher of the Week " for the week of June 18-24. Northcraft, is the only pitcher to throw a complete game no-hitter this season in the CL and the first in Hillcats history, as well. Northcraft, is the second Hillcat pitcher to be honored and the third Hillcat to receive a league-wide award. Cody Martin was named "Pitcher of the Week" for the week of May 7-13 and Catcher Evan Gattis was named "Player of the Week " for the week of April 6-15. This is the first such honor of Northcraft's career.

Currently, Northcraft is tied for second in the CL in wins (7) with Martin. He only trails teammates Gus Schlosser and J.R. Graham, both have eight on the year. Northcraft climbed into the 10th position on the ERA (3.38) leaderboard after his 14th start of the season. Northcraft is the league leader in complete games (2), the active league leader in strikeouts (78) and Ks per nine (8.78). He is also tied for first in shutouts (1) and fourth in innings pitched (80.0).

The 22-year-old is in his fourth season in professional baseball after being drafted in the 10th round in 2009 out of Mater Dei High School. Northcraft was ranked as the 84th-best high school prospect in 2009 on a team that was ranked 14th nationally. Entering 2012, Northcraft, has a 3.72 career ERA with 15 wins, including a career-high seven last season.
