Cole Kimball Joins P-Nats on Rehab Assignment

(WOODBRIDGE, VA) - The Washington Nationals have announced that RHP Cole Kimball will join the Potomac Nationals starting tonight on a Rehab Assignment. Kimball is set to start tonight against the Wilmington Blue Rocks that starts at 7:05 PM in Woodbridge.

Kimball, 26, was 1-0 with a 1.93 ERA over 14 innings with Washington in 2011. He is recovering from right shoulder surgery performed in July 2011. The Brooklyn product was part of the 2010 Mills Cup Champion Potomac Nationals going 3-0 with 12 saves and a 1.82 ERA before ending his 2010 season with Harrisburg. Kimball spent all of 2009 with the P-Nats striking out 52 batters in 46 2/3 innings while sporting a 6.36 ERA. His MLB debut with Washington was May 16th, 2011 against Pittsburgh at Nationals Park with Kimball tossing a scoreless inning. Kimball was drafted out of Centenary (NJ) College in the 12th Round of the 2006 Draft.

The length of the assignment with Potomac is unknown. Kimball becomes the eighth rehabber to join Potomac this year.
