Myrtle Beach Pelicans News Release

LYNCHBURG, VA - The Myrtle Beach Pelicans, Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Texas Rangers, dropped a 3-2 late decision to the Lynchburg Hillcats at City Stadium Monday. The Pelicans are now 3-2 to start the second half of the season.

Myrtle Beach had the lead for the game's first three innings, jumping out on Lychburg ace JR Graham in the first inning for a 2-0 lead. With two outs, the Pelicans strung together three straight hits by Christian Villanueva, Brett Nicholas and Tomas Telis. The last smack was a double to right that plated both runs.

Lynchburg leveled the playing field in the third inning, however, pushing across two runs on two doubles and a single from Mycal Jones, Nick Ahmed and Adam Milligan. Jones and Milligan are both former Pelicans.

The Hillcats scored their decisive third run in the seventh off reliever Jimmy Reyes. Milligan again came through with an RBI single, scoring Jones for a 3-2 lead. The run came with two outs and after Odubel Herrera had difficulty making a tough play at second that would have ended the inning.

Luke Jackson did pitch well in his Class A-Advanced debut for Myrtle Beach. The righty starter lasted five innings, allowing two runs on seven hits. He walked two and struck out one. Jackson, however, threw only seven first pitch strikes.

The Pelicans meet the Hillcats again at 7:05 on Tuesday night with Wilmer Font facing Cody Martin. For more information log on to MyrtleBeachPelicans.com.
