July 3, 2019 - Canadian Football League (CFL)
Calgary Stampeders News Release
It's Grey Cup in July! The Grey Cup Festival Street Team and Buddy the Beaver - official mascot of the 2019 Grey Cup Festival presented by Shaw - will be on-hand to invite Stampede-goers to join in the festivities this November.
Fans can find Buddy the Beaver and the Festival Street Team on Stephen Avenue Walk from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. MDT on July 4. The fun continues July 5 as the 2019 Grey Cup Wagon winds through downtown Calgary during this year's Stampede Parade. Canadian Football Hall of Famer and former Calgary Stampeder Grey Cup Champion, Rocco Romano, will be on board holding the Grey Cup trophy high. He will be joined by Buddy the Beaver and fans to invite families and friends along the parade route to join in Canada's Biggest Party. Foss Irwin will drive the 2019 Grey Cup Wagon, pulled by his matching team of four painted horses.
As part of the Festival's partnership with the Calgary Stampede, we are excited to be celebrating McDonald's Community Day on July 9th. Come 'Experience the Energy' with the Grey Cup Festival Street Team, including Buddy the Beaver, Quick Six, members of the Calgary Stampeders Outriders and the Grey Cup trophy at Stampede Park Grandstand from 12 - 2 p.m.
Watch for the iconic Grey Cup throughout the Park during Stampede, including:
In front of the big screen TV at Rotary Dream home
Around the ATCO Lost Kids' Trailer
On the WestJet Sky Ride
On the Ferris Wheel in the heart of the Midway
During the Flag Raising Ceremony at Elbow River Camp
In the Big Four Road House
And many other places - check out the Grey Cup Festival Twitter page to see where we will be
Throughout the Stampede, the Grey Cup Festival Street Team will encourage guests to put November 20 - 24 in their calendars by providing a glimpse of the fun to come. We know Stampede-goers will want to return to Stampede Park to "Experience the Energy."
The 2019 Grey Cup Festival presented by Shaw will kick off on the evening of Wednesday, Nov. 20, and will run through to Saturday, Nov. 23 at Stampede Park.
The 107th Grey Cup presented by Shaw kicks off at 4 p.m. MST on Sunday, Nov. 24 at McMahon Stadium.
