Trevor Harris, Brandon Banks, and Sean Thomas Erlington named June's Shaw CFL Top Performers

Published on July 3, 2019 under Canadian Football League (CFL) News Release

TORONTO - Trevor Harris, Brandon Banks, and Sean Thomas Erlington were named the Shaw CFL Top Performers of the Month for June of the CFL's 2019 season. The Performers of the Month for June includes all appearances from Week 1 to Week 3.

The three players were chosen by a panel of judges who independently send their selections to the CFL head office. The panel includes former Canadian Football League players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde of TSN and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.

QB | TREVOR HARRIS | EDMONTON ESKIMOS

Trevor Harris hasn't missed a beat despite new surroundings in Edmonton.

Harris has led the green and gold to a 2-1 record and has been as efficient as ever. The Waldo, Ohio, native currently leads the league in passing with 1,086 yards, and is tied with six touchdown passes, while completing nearly 72% of his passes.

During Week 1, Harris was named a Shaw Top Performer following a 447-yard and three touchdown effort against the Montreal Alouettes. He was just shy of 300+ yards in Week 2 against the visiting BC Lions (294), before once again eclipsing the mark with a 345-yard performance in Week 3 in Winnipeg.

His favourite target thus far has been Greg Ellingson who leads the league in receptions (21) and sits second in yards (313), while CJ Gable tops the CFL in rushing (347).

Despite only having three career rushing touchdowns prior to the season, Harris added two more to open the year.

REC | BRANDON BANKS | HAMILTON TIGER-CATS

Tiger-Cats receiver Brandon Banks started the year strong by continuing the great play with which he ended the 2018 campaign.

Through June, Hamilton leads the East Division with a 3-0 record thanks to a torrid offence featuring Banks. The Kansas State alum leads the league with 334 receiving yards and sits second with 20 receptions.

During the three game stretch, Banks has eclipsed the 100+ yard mark on two occasions - a 152-yard on seven reception performance in Week 3 versus Montreal, and a 105-yard on seven reception showing in Week 2 versus Toronto.

Banks has also had a terrific start on special teams. He returned a missed field-goal 113 yards for a touchdown against the Argonauts in Week 2 and through three games, Banks has accumulated 513 all-purpose yards.

RB | SEAN THOMAS ERLINGTON | HAMILTON TIGER-CATS

In the opening month of the season, Sean Thomas Erlington has emerged as another potent offensive threat for the undefeated Tiger-Cats.

The Montreal native and eighth-round pick in the 2017 draft has recorded 193 receiving yards, while adding 224 rushing yards to total 417 combined yards - fourth most in the CFL.

Thomas Erlington's 165 all-purpose yards in Week 2 helped Hamilton spoil the Toronto Argonauts' home opener 64-14, and garnered him a nod as a Shaw CFL Top Performer. He followed that showing with 168 all-purpose yards in Week 3 as the Tiger-Cats defeated the Alouettes 41-10 at Tim Hortons Field.

The former Montreal Carabin has averaged 7.0 yards per carry this season.
