Banks and Thomas Erlington Named CFL Top Performers of the Month for June

The Canadian Football League announced Wednesday that Hamilton Tiger-Cats wide receiver/kick returner Brandon Banks and running back Sean Thomas Erlington have been named CFL Top Performers of the Month for June.

Banks, 31, leads the CFL this season with 513 combined yards including a league leading 334 receiving yards. The 5-7, 150-pound wide receiver has also recorded one receiving touchdown, one carry for a 30-yard rushing touchdown and one punt return for 29 yards which moved him into second in Tiger-Cats all-time punt return yardage with 2,843 behind only Garney Henley (2,944). Banks has also returned two missed field goals for 120 yards including a 113-yard missed field goal return touchdown Week 2 at Toronto, tying Bashir Levingston for first in CFL history with the fourth of his career.

Thomas Erlington, 26, leads the CFL with 417 yards from scrimmage and is third in the CFL this season with 224 rushing yards on 32 carries. The 5-9 217-pound native of Montreal, Quebec has posted 18 receptions for 286 yards including a 75-yard receiving touchdown Week 3 versus Montreal en route to a 41-10 victory.

Edmonton's Trevor Harris, first in voting, joins Banks (2nd) and Thomas Erlington (3rd) as this month's CFL Top Performers. The three players were chosen by a panel of judges who independently send their selections to the CFL head office. The panel includes former Canadian Football League players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde of TSN and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.
