November 21, 2019 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Saskatoon Blades News Release

Check your local forecast, there's about to be a blizzard of teddy bears throughout Western Canada and the U.S. Pacific Northwest!

Western Hockey League teams begin their annual run of Teddy Bear, Toque & Mitten Toss games Saturday, November 30 (7:00 p.m. CT) when the Swift Current Broncos host the Prince Albert Raiders at the Innovation Credit Union i-plex in Swift Current, Sask.

The opening night of the schedule of games will also see the Medicine Hat Tigers, Kamloops Blazers, and Kelowna Rockets host games that evening. Each year, WHL teams come together to collect more than 50,000 items for local not-for-profit organizations.

As custom has it, fans are encouraged to bring a teddy bear, toque, or set of mittens to their respective club's designated game. At the scoring of the first goal for the home team, the teddies, toques and mittens will fly.

The WHL and its participating member Clubs are proud to give back to those in need during the holiday season and throughout the year. Deepest gratitude is extended to those who help us spread some cheer during the holiday season.

Closing out this year's schedule once again are the Seattle Thunderbirds, who'll host the Everett Silvertips at the accesso ShoWare Center on Saturday, January 11 (6:05 p.m. PT).
