A Clean Sweep for GreenJackets
August 23, 2018 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Augusta GreenJackets News Release
North Augusta, SC: The Augusta GreenJackets, South Atlantic League affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, won both of their games in the Thursday night doubleheader with the Kannapolis Intimidators. Augusta pulled off game one by the score of 3-2, then won game two 5-4.
In game one, the GreenJackets were in control for most of the game behind the pitching of Caleb Baragar. He went five innings, only giving up four hits, while striking out four Intimidators. Behind Baragar's spectacular pitching and Ryan Kirby's two-run home run, the GreenJackets got out to a 3-0 lead after four innings. In the end, Augusta would hold on to win 3-2 after Kannapolis put up two runs in the final inning.
In game two, the GreenJackets got out to a hot start by putting four runs on the board in the bottom of the first inning. A triple from Heliot Ramos brought in two runs, then a double from Kirby knocked in another. Orlando Garcia would finish off the inning with a sacrifice fly to score Kirby from third. Kannapolis would not give up after they put up runs in the third and fifth inning, but it would not be enough. The GreenJackets would go on to claim victory 5-4 behind Camilo Doval, who had his ninth save of the season.
The GreenJackets will be back in action tomorrow at 7:05 pm against Kannapolis Intimidators at SRP Park.
Tomorrow we will have an Auggie Bobblehead giveaway for the first 1,000 fans. Saturday we will have a fireworks show and our SweetWater 90s themed jersey. Then to end the series on Sunday, we will have Bark in the Park!
