Peterborough Petes News Release

(Peterborough, ON) - The eighth annual Pink in the Rink game took place at the Peterborough Memorial Centre on Saturday night. The Peterborough Petes, in association with the Canadian Cancer Society, are pleased to announce that the campaign raised $70,412.39, bringing the eight-year total to over $530,000.

Petes players wore special Pink in the Rink fundraising sweaters, which were sold in a post-game live jersey auction. Other fundraising initiatives at the game included a chuck-a-ball, silent auction, and bucket pass, which combined with t-shirt sales and the online fundraiser to bring the all-time total in excess of half a million dollars.

Highlights of Saturday's fundraiser included Petes captain Brandon Prophet's game-worn jersey selling for $1050, and a Toronto Maple Leafs package including memorabilia and tickets raising $800 in the silent auction.

Petes Assistant Coach Kurtis Foster and long-time fan, billet, and cancer survivor Julia Tanner were the honourary co-chairs.

Next up for the Petes is a road game in Ottawa on Wednesday, February 8, with a home game on Thursday, February 9 against the Sudbury Wolves. Tickets are available by visiting the PMC Collins Barrow Box Office online, in person, or by phoning (705) 743-3561.
