OTTAWA - Hockey Canada announced, today, that Ottawa 67's defenceman Jack Matier was among the selections to represent Canada at the 2023 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship.

"We are proud of Jack's achievement. He has earned this opportunity with the dedication he has put into his development over the past three years," said 67's Assistant General Manager and Director of Scouting Jan Egert. "We are looking forward to watching him represent Hockey Canada on the international stage."

Matier, 19, is enjoying a standout 2022-23 season with the 67's, posting nine goals and 17 assists, for 26 points in 25 games, already just three shy of his career high (29). The Sault Ste. The 6'4 202 lbs blueliner was selected in the fourth round, 124th overall, by the Nashville Predators in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, and signed a three-year entry-level contract on October 11, 2021.

The 67's will be well-represented at this year's World Juniors; with General Manager James Boyd overseeing the selection process for Team Canada, and Strength and Conditioning Coach Sean Young also joining the staff. Forward Tyler Boucher is attending Selection Camp with the United States, and forward Vinzenz Rohrer will be representing Austria for the second time.
