Peterborough Petes News Release
(Peterborough, ON) - It was announced on Monday that Petes second year forward, Nick Lardis, has been selected to the 2023 CHL/NHL Kubota Top Prospects Game to take place in Vancouver, BC on January 25, 2023. Lardis is one of 15 OHL players selected to take part in the annual event.
Lardis is currently enjoying a productive sophomore season that has seen him score 12 goals through 30 games this year. This follows an impressive rookie season in which he scored 18 goals and added 19 assists in 63 games. Lardis' impressive play led to him being recognized with a "B" rating in the NHL Central Scouting 22-23 Preliminary Players to Watch List on October 25th, which indicates he could be a potential 2nd-3rd round selection in the upcoming NHL Draft. The 2023 NHL Draft will take place at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, TN from June 28-29.
The Oakville, Ontario native stands at 5'10" tall and weighs 154 lbs. Lardis was originally selected by the Petes sixth overall in the 2021 OHL Priority Selection. He continues to impress on and off the ice this year, starting with his standout performances at Training Camp.
Lardis becomes the eighth Pete to be selected for the game in the last 10 years. The other seven include:
Nick Robertson (2019)
Hunter Jones (2019)
Dylan Wells (2016)
Matt Spencer (2015)
Nick Ritchie (2014)
Eric Cornel (2014)
Slater Koekkoek (2012)
Lardis will be in action on Thursday when the Petes host the Hamilton Bulldogs for Front Line and Healthcare Workers Night at the PMC. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
