Ottawa 67's News Release

OTTAWA - The Ottawa 67's continued to bolster their coaching staff on Thursday as the club announced a contract extension for assistant coach Norm Milley.

"Norm has been a valued member of our staff over the last four seasons. The 67's have benefited greatly from Norm's extensive knowledge of the game and enthusiastic approach," said 67's general manager James Boyd, "We are all excited to announce Norm's extension and look forward to working together at training camp."

Milley, 41, has been a member of the 67's coaching staff since 2017, helping the Barber Poles to reach the OHL Final in 2018. During his time on staff, the 67's have posted a regular season record of 130-52-16.

The Toronto native brings a wealth of experience to the organization. As a player, Milley starred for the Sudbury Wolves from 1996-2000, and appeared in games for the NHL's Buffalo Sabres and Tampa Bay Lightning, before a successful nine-year career in the German DEL.

Ottawa also announced on Thursday the hiring of Marie-Pierre Neron, who becomes the Barber Poles athletic therapist.

Neron, a certified athletic therapist and sports first responder, joins the Barber Poles after having worked with McGill University athletes throughout the hockey, football, and basketball programs. She was previously the Canadian International Hockey (CIH) Academy's head athletic therapist, and her expertise will help to keep the 67's healthy, and on the ice.

Internally, the Barber Poles have also promoted Joel Washkaruk to director of player personnel, and Noah Chaikoff to manager of analytics.

The 67's will open their 2021-22 training camp on September 2, in preparation for their preseason opener on September 6, when they visit Peterborough to take on the Petes. Ottawa will open the regular season against the Kingston Frontenacs at the Leon's Centre on October 8.
