67's Choose Three Local Players in 2020 OHL U18 Priority Selection
April 8, 2020 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL) - Ottawa 67's News Release
OTTAWA - Only a couple of days after a more than satisfying draft on Saturday, the Ottawa 67's scouting brass gathered once more on Wednesday, April 8th, for the fourth annual OHL U18 Selection Draft. For this draft, the 67's possessed three picks (20th overall, 40th overall and 56th overall), with whom they added three players aged under 18 years of age to their prospect pool.
With those three picks, Ottawa went local with Ottawa native and Brockville Braves forward Matteo Disipio, Ottawa native and Nepean Raiders goaltender Connor Shibley and Ottawa Jr Senators centre Costa Touliopoulos.
More in depth-look on the three players selected by Ottawa on Wednesday:
Matteo Disipio - 1st round, 20th overall - RW, Brockville Braves MAAA
A 5 foot-8 inches tall, 132 pound forward, Matteo Disipio does not lack talent. The Ottawa native had a great season with the U18 Brockville Braves in the HEOMAAA this past year, collecting 30 goals and 22 assists for 52 points in 45 games. An '03 birthday, Matteo is still only 16 years of age, turning 17 in July.
Connor Shibley - 2nd round, 40th overall - G, Nepean Raiders MAAA
A 5'11'' goaltender, Shibley has outstanding numbers to show from last season with the Nepean Raiders of the HEOMAAA. The Ottawa native had a record of 21-3-1-1, a GAA of 2,51 and a SV% of .913 in 26 games. Shibley is currently 17 years old and will turn 18 in January.
Costa Touliopoulos - 3rd round, 56th overall - C, Ottawa Jr Senators
A late '03 birthday, Toulipoulos is still only 16 years of age and will not turn 17 until the month of November. A 5'8.5'', 167 pound centreman, Touliopoulos had 46 points (20 goals, 26 assists) in 45 games with the Ottawa Jr. Senators of the HEOMAAA this past season.
