Shorthanded Condors fall behind
The Gulls took a decisive 3-1 series lead with a 5-2 win on Wednesday night in San Diego. The turning point came early, as G Trevor Koenig dove to his left to knock down a shot from RW Jamie Cooke and preserve the scoreless hockey game. About five minutes later, it was 3-0 Gulls. They scored three times in the span of four minutes to lead 3-0 after one period. Bakersfield got on the board just 11 seconds into the second period to cut the lead to two, but San Diego answered just 39 seconds later. D Jonas Lennartsson added a tally late in the game as the Condors fell 5-2. C Shawn Byram missed the game with a pulled groin, and would not return in the series. D Quinn Fair was also out sick, as the Condors played with five defensemen and six rookies in the lineup.

Midway through the third period, rookie winger Miguel Delisle flipped home the go ahead goal for the Gulls, snapping a 1-1 tie and ending the Condors season in five games. Bakersfield had their moments, however, putting up 33 shots and having a potential goal disallowed in the final frame. The Gulls later added an empty net goal to seal the series with a 3-1 win, having taken the last four games of the series. G Trevor Koenig allowed just six goals in five games between the pipes for San Diego.
