April 21, 2003 - ECHL (ECHL)
Greensboro Generals News Release

UPCOMING WEEK: The Greensboro Generals season came to a close last Friday night, losing their best-of-five series to the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies three games to one. The off-season has officially begun. Season tickets for the 2003-2004 fifth anniversary season are currently on sale at the Generals offices. Early bird season ticket prices are currently available for as low as $249.00.

LAST WEEK:

4/16 ATLANTIC CITY 6, GREENSBORO 3 ¨ The Generals trailed 1-0 in the first period, but Jay Murphy and Kurt Drummond connected for scores exactly a minute apart to take a 2-1 advantage into the locker room. The Boardwalk Bullies evened the score early in the second period, but Mike Bayrack retaliated for the Generals to regain the lead at 3-2. Atlantic City was too strong however, tying the game in the second period, then taking the lead for good with three unanswered third period scores.

4/18 ATLANTIC CITY 3, GREENSBORO 2 ¨ Despite a strong effort in the game and in the series, the Generals couldn't solve the Boardwalk Bullies. Trailing 1-0 in the second period, Greensboro got two quick strikes from David Whitworth and Mark Turner to leap in front 2-1. The lead was shortlived, however, with Atlantic City knotting the score at 2-2 just over a minute later. It stayed even until the final five minutes of the game, when Atlantic City took the lead for good on a Stefan Rivard score. Despite a power play chance for the final 1:41 of the game, the Generals were unable to force overtime, and their incredible 2002-2003 season suddenly was over.
