Las Vegas Aviators News Release

LAS VEGAS: The Las Vegas 51s professional baseball team of the Pacific Coast League (PCL), Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, announced that the baseball game on Tuesday, May 15 between the New Orleans Zephyrs, Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets, and the 51s will begin at a special time of 10:30 a.m. at Cashman Field.

The 51s will present "The Fourth Annual Cox Communications School Day" featuring a field trip available to 5th grade students in the Clark County School District.

Over the past three seasons, a total of 19,008 fans have attended the special morning games. Last season, a crowd of 7,933 attended the game on April 25 between the Sacramento Rivers Cats and 51s. In 2005, a crowd of 6,851 watched Las Vegas and Sacramento on May 9. Las Vegas hosted Tucson in the inaugural "school day" game on May 6, 2004, before a crowd of 4,224.

"The school day game has gained in popularity and this season's game should be the largest one in our four years of holding this special day for the children," 51s President/General Manager Don Logan said. "The kids have a great time at these games and it also serves as a fun and educational experience for the students with both the Tobacco Awareness Program and the opportunity to watch the 51s play baseball. We also thank Cox Communications for their partnership of this event."

The Tobacco Awareness Program, through the Clark County School District, is an important event that serves to educate the young students on the dangers of cigarette smoking.

The 51s, under first-year manager Lorenzo Bundy, open an eight-game home stand tonight against the Oklahoma RedHawks, Triple-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, at 7:11 p.m.

Season tickets and mini-plan packages (10, 20, 33-game plans) are available by calling the 51s office at (702) 798-7825.
