Round Rock Express Miracle Field Ribbon Cutting Set for Saturday
May 8, 2007 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Round Rock Express News Release
ROUND ROCK - Though inclement weather pushed back the original ribbon cutting, it didn't stop the Miracle League at Town & Country from opening up its season several weeks back.
On Saturday, May 12 at 11:00 a.m., the Round Rock Express Miracle Field will become the official nameplate for the latest miracle to hit Austin.
The ribbon cutting ceremonies at the Round Rock Express Miracle Field at the Town and Country Complex off of Parmer Lane in Northwest Austin will be attended by Express founder and CEO Reid Ryan, manager Jackie Moore and other Express and Miracle League personnel.
The Round Rock Express Miracle Field provides mentally and physically challenged children the opportunity to play baseball on a special rubberized, all-weather surface. The Miracle League boasts 143 organizations and more than 800 teams nationwide.
"This is a great partnership between the Express and the Miracle League," said Miracle League Director Steve Brown. "We've all put a great deal of effort into making this miracle happen for the children of Central Texas."
Ryan Sanders Baseball, the Round Rock Express and the Nolan Ryan Foundation have pledged a combined $250,000 for the project over the last 19 months.
"We'd focused on kids' charities every year here," said Ryan. "But this was the first thing that tied in to what we do and enabled us to give back. We felt like we needed to do it so that everyone would have the chance to enjoy America's Past Time."
Other contributors to the $750,000 project, include Don and Chris Sanders, Chris and Amy Ellis with Endeavor Real Estate, Hellas Construction, Cunningham/Allen, Michael Antenora, Ranger Excavation, Guerra Construction, Featherlite and Brazos Masonry.
The Miracle League at Town & Country is seeking about $100,000 more in order to complete concessions and restrooms at the Round Rock Express Miracle Field.
