July 21, 2021 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Erie Otters News Release
Erie, Pennsylvania - 545 days bookend the last and next home game dates for the Erie Otters Hockey Club, as the team announces its 2021 Exhibition Game Schedule, concurrently with the Ontario Hockey League's entire slate of preseason dates.
The Saginaw Spirit were the opponent on that last game night for the Otters in March 2020, and their presence will signal the return of hockey to the Erie Insurance Arena at 2 P.M. on Saturday, September 4, 2021. The Otters will then welcome in the Flint Firebirds at 7 P.M. on Thursday, September 16 for the lone weekday game of the Exhibition Schedule, before closing out the home-portion of dates the ensuing Saturday, September 18 at 7:00 P.M. against Saginaw.
Erie will spend the opening weekend of October in the Great Lakes State to close out their exhibition contests. The Spirit will be first up on Friday, October 1 at 7:05 P.M., with a 7 P.M. puck drop against the Firebirds on Saturday, October 2. Both of the weekend's contests will be played at the Firebirds home of Dort Financial Center in Flint, MI. The Otters will return to Flint the following weekend to open their Regular Season at 7 P.M. on Saturday, October 9.
"It's an exciting time for everyone as we turn our attention to a new season," said OHL Commissioner David Branch. "We look forward to getting our players back into their OHL communities where they can continue to pursue their goals both on the ice and in the classroom."
Fans will be allowed in attendance for the Otters' three home Exhibition Games; Ticket Information will be announced by the team in the near future.
