2011-12 USHL Season Schedule Set, Phantoms Open at USA

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The wait is finally over as the Youngstown Phantoms 2011-12 regular season schedule has been announced. The Phantoms will open the season on the road against Team USA on Friday, September 30. The Phantoms will make their home debut with two games against the Des Moines Buccaneers on Friday, October 14 and Saturday, October 15.
The Phantoms will once again call the Covelli Centre, Youngstown's premier entertainment facility, home as they enter their third season in the United States Hockey League. The Phantoms 30 home games will feature 12 of the 16 USHL teams and fans will have the opportunity to see the Chicago Steel, Indiana Ice, Muskegon Lumberjacks and Team USA a combined sixteen times, with each team making four separate trips to Youngstown. The Phantoms will also continue the School Day Game Tradition on Wednesday, February 1, against Chicago.
With the additions of both the Muskegon Lumberjacks and the Dubuque Fighting Saints during the 2010-11 season, the 2011-12 season will feature a conference swap as the Waterloo Black Hawks and the Fighting Saints will be realigned. As the defending Clark Cup Champions, the Fighting Saints will now compete in the Eastern Conference, while the Black Hawks find their new home in the Western Conference. The Phantoms will face Dubuque five times this season, which is one more game than last year, and they will face Waterloo only twice, which is a two game drop from the 10-11 season.
At the conclusion of the 480-game regular season schedule, the playoff format will remain the same as the top six teams from each conference will take part in the Clark Cup playoffs. The Phantoms regular season schedule will be available online later today and game times will be announced in August.
