$16.50 for a Late Rally
December 1, 2023 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
Waterloo, Iowa - Earlier this week, The Salvation Army of Waterloo/Cedar Falls indicated that this year's Red Kettle effort had raised only 15 percent of the organization's $651,000 goal.
Waterloo Black Hawks fans and 1650-AM KCNZ listeners can do their part to fill the gap, as the $16.50 Campaign presented by Slumberland Furniture turns its focus toward assisting The Salvation Army.
The $16.50 Campaign is a cooperative effort between Slumberland, the Black Hawks, and KCNZ to assist good causes each month during hockey season with a goal of 100 contributions of $16.50 or more. When those small contributions are pooled together, they can make a big difference. To make your donation to The Salvation Army of Waterloo/Cedar Falls, visit waterlooblackhawks.com and click on "$16.50 Campaign" in the "Fan Zone" menu.
"Everyone has heard the bells and seen the red kettles this holiday season. If you haven't been able to make a contribution yet for whatever reason, this is one more opportunity," said Black Hawks President and COO Joe Greene. "Simply put, The Salvation Army makes a difference in the Cedar Valley."
The organization offers social services that range from providing food for the hungry, relief for disaster victims, assistance for the disabled, outreach to the elderly and ill, clothing and shelter to the homeless, and opportunities for underprivileged children. Locally in 2023, The Salvation Army has worked to address increased need for rent and utility assistance (up 21 percent), meals (up 27 percent), and nights in the charity's shelters (up 17 percent).
