Warriors Fall to the Legends

FRISCO, Tex. - The NBA D-League Champion Santa Cruz Warriors (10-14) were defeated by the Texas Legends (11-9) 108-88 on Friday night at Dr. Pepper Arena. The 2015-16 season series against the Legends is currently tied at 2-2. Daniel Nwaelele paced the Warriors with 19 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists. Terrence Drisdom recorded 12 points coming off the bench, while Daniel Orton added 10 points.

Manny Harris led the way for the Legends with 27 points, going 5-of-8 from beyond the arc. Brandon Ashley recorded 16 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists, while Jamil Wilson added 15 points in the victory over Santa Cruz.

The first frame saw a tight contest between the two teams, complete with two lead changes and three ties. Santa Cruz and Texas both shot 45% from the field, with Texas owning a one-point edge heading into the second quarter. Texas would pick up the pace in the second quarter, capitalizing on second chance opportunities (7-0) and fast-break points (8-6) to own an 8-point edge heading into the locker room.

Coming out of the break, the Warriors were held to 28% scoring, recording only 20 points in the third frame. The Legends would comfortably keep that distance to lead by as many as 26 points in the fourth quarter, recording their first-ever win at home against the Santa Cruz Warriors.
