
Knights Fall to Bulls 7-6 on Sunday

(DURHAM, NC) - A night after the Charlotte Knights rallied in the top of the 10th inning for a 3-1 win, the Durham Bulls rallied in the bottom of the ninth inning on Sunday for a 7-6 win from Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham, NC. With the loss, the Knights settled for a split of the four-game series.
RHP Ian Hamilton (1-1, 3.12), who entered the game in the bottom of the ninth inning with seven-straight scoreless appearances to begin his Triple-A career, allowed three runs on three hits in the final frame. Hamilton gave up a game-winning, two-run double to Jeremy Hazelbaker in the inning and was saddled with the loss.
Offensively, the Knights tallied six runs on 11 hits in the game. Second baseman Eddy Alvarez swatted his fifth home run of the season in the sixth inning off Durham starter Zach Lee. Eloy Jiménez, the top prospect in the Chicago White Sox system, was activated off the disabled list before the game and went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored.
Center fielder Jacob May continued his hot hitting and went 1-for-5 with a double -- his fifth double in the four-game series. May, who recorded two, four-hit games in the series, hit .556 (10-for-18) over the four-game stretch. White Sox outfielder Nicky Delmonico continued his major league rehab assignment and went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored.
RHP Jordan Stephens started the game for the Knights and allowed two runs on six hits over five innings of work. He struck-out seven batters.
The Knights will now will return home to BB&T Ballpark to open a seven-game homestand on Monday night. The Knights will begin the homestand with a four-game series against the Pawtucket Red Sox (Triple-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox) on Monday. Pre-game radio coverage of Monday's 7:04 p.m. game is set for 6:50 p.m. on 730 The Game ESPN Charlotte. The "Voice of the Charlotte Knights" Matt Swierad and Mike Pacheco will have the call for all of the action. Monday's game will feature "Bark in the Ballpark" presented by Williams Subaru. Gates open at 6:00 p.m.
