Buffalo Bisons News Release
The PawSox offense was too much for the Bisons as the Herd dropped their second straight game in Pawtucket Wednesday night. The PawSox produced plenty of runs and received stellar pitching while defeating the Bisons, 10-2.
The PawSox put together a three-run first inning and batted through the batter. Aneury Tavarez hit a solo home run. Then, with the bases loaded, Ivan De Jesus Jr. hit a fly ball to center field deep enough to score Rusney Castillo from third base. Ramon Flores followed with an RBI-single.
In the second, Pawtucket added to its lead. Adam Lind got a groundball to the outfield through the lefty shift for an RBI-single. This moved the score to 4-0. With two runners in scoring position and two outs, an infield single from Castillo increased the PawSox lead to five in the third.
Pawtucket scored two more runs in the fifth. Lind's second RBI-single of the game brought home the first run of the frame and an error plated the second. The PawSox scored again in the sixth and in the seventh, the PawSox hit the 10-run mark after scoring two runs in the inning. By that point, the game was well out of reach.
Even though the PawSox posted many runs on the board and registered 16 hits, the Bisons' pitchers stranded a total of 15 base runners throughout the game.
Through the first five turns at the plate, the Bisons only reached base twice--on a single by Anthony Alford in the second a walk drawn by Steve Pearce in the fourth.
The pair of Smiths the PawSox used on the mound--Josh D. Smith and Josh A. Smith--held the Bisons to just three hits in the game. As a team, the Herd couldn't summon much offense and struck out 10 times.
Danny Jansen provided the only runs of the game for Buffalo on a two-run home run with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning.
Buffalo will look to rebound in the series finale Thursday night with a start time of 6:05 p.m. from McCoy Stadium.
