Moosic, PA - The Syracuse Chiefs scored 10 runs for the third day in a row in a 10-3 win over the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders Saturday afternoon at PNC Field. Jacob Wilson had three more RBIs and Austin Voth allowed just two runs in six innings in the win. The win moved the Chiefs back to .500, and ties the club's longest winning streak this season at four.
Syracuse (23-23) started the scoring for the sixth straight game, scoring four runs off Major League rehabber Adam Warren in the first inning. Warren walked Irving Falu, hit Matt Reynolds with a pitch and walked Jose Marmolejos to load the bases. Warren then hit Moises Sierra with a pitch to force in a run. Jacob Wilson followed with a three-run triple to push the lead to 4-0.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (21-26) added a run in the bottom of the first. Clint Frazier tripled with one out and scored on Brandon Drury's RBI single to make the score 4-1. The RailRiders added another run in the third when Frazier walked, and Drury and Ford singled to load the bases. Kyle Higashioka then flied out to the wall in left, bringing in Frazier on a sacrifice fly to make it 4-2.
The Chiefs started to pull away in the sixth inning. Bengie Gonzalez reached on an error on Rey Navarro with two out against Erik Swanson, and Hunter Jones doubled him home for a 5-2 lead. Falu then doubled himself to stretch the lead to 6-2.
In the ninth, the Chiefs put the exclamation point on this game. Marmolejos and Sierra each singled off Giovanny Gallegos. After a fly out, Yadiel Hernandez hit a ground-rule double to center to score Marmolejos and make the Chiefs lead 7-2. Tuffy Gosewisch then grounded out to second, enough to score Sierra for an 8-2 lead. Gonzalez then capped off the game with a two-run home run to left field off Oliver Perez for a 10-2 advantage.
The RailRiders added a run in the ninth inning off Jimmy Cordero, when Tyler Wade singled home Ryan McBroom to make the final score the same as Friday's night's 10-3 total.
The Chiefs look to extend their winning streak to a season-high five games Sunday at 1:05 p.m. LHP Tommy Milone is scheduled to start for Syracuse opposite RHP Chance Adams for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
