C Yermín Mercedes assigned to Winston-Salem (High-A)

Catcher Yermín Mercedes, 25, was promoted to Charlotte on May 24th from Winston-Salem. Today, he was assigned back to the Dash. He did not appear in a game with the Knights. He has appeared in 28 games this season with Winston-Salem (High-A) and hit .235 (23-for-98) with 12 runs scored, 10 doubles, two home runs, and 10 RBIs. He was selected by the Chicago White Sox from the Baltimore Orioles in the Triple-A phase of the Rule-5 Draft on December 14, 2017. He was originally signed by the Washington Nationals as a free agent in 2011.

Catcher Dustin Garneau, 30, was claimed off waivers from the Oakland A's on May 24th. Today, he was added to Charlotte's active roster. He hit .208 (15-for-72) with two home runs and nine RBIs with the Triple-A Nashville Sounds this season. He was originally selected by the Colorado Rockies in the 19th round of the 2009 First-Year Player Draft out of Cal-State Fullerton.
