Frisco RoughRiders News Release

FRISCO, TEXAS (JUNE 23, 2015) - Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton is scheduled to begin a rehabilitation assignment with the Frisco RoughRiders on Wednesday, June 24 in the team's 11:05 a.m. game against the Midland RockHounds. Hamilton was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring on June 4 (retroactive to June 1).

Rangers left-hander Matt Harrison is slated to make a rehab start for Frisco in Wednesday's game. For tickets to see Hamilton, Harrison and the Riders in the club's home stand finale on Wednesday, please visit the Dr Pepper Ballpark ticket office, call (972) 731-9200, e-mail Info@RidersBaseball.com or visit www.RidersBaseball.com.

Hamilton suffered a grade 2 hamstring strain during Texas' late-May series against the Boston Red Sox. Reacquired from the Angels earlier this season, the 2010 American League MVP played in seven games for the Rangers and hit .273 (6 for 22) with two doubles, two home runs and five runs batted in. Prior to re-joining the Rangers, Hamilton rehabbed in 12 games with Frisco and Round Rock. He hit .563 (9 for 16) for the Riders with two doubles, four RBI and a home run in his final Frisco at bat on May 20.

In five seasons with Texas from 2008-12, Hamilton batted .305 with 142 home runs and 506 RBI in 647 games. He has the third highest slugging percentage (.549) and sixth best batting average in club history among players with at least 300 games while producing three seasons each of 30+ homers and 100+ RBI.

He was elected to start in the All-Star Game in all five seasons as a Ranger and won A.L. Silver Slugger Awards in 2008, 2010, and 2012. Overall, Hamilton has a .292 (1091-3739) average with 192 homers and 676 RBI in 977 major league games with the Reds (2007), Rangers (2008-12), and Angels (2013-14).

Following Wednesday's home stand finale, the RoughRiders will return to Dr Pepper Ballpark for a pair of holiday weekend series against Northwest Arkansas and Arkansas from July 2-7. Spectacular, patriotic-themed fireworks shows will follow the games on July 3, 4 and 5. For tickets to see the future stars of the Texas Rangers at Dr Pepper Ballpark call (972) 731-9200, e-mail Info@RidersBaseball.com or visit www.RidersBaseball.com.
