Thunder Claim All-Star Combs
February 15, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Stockton Thunder News Release
Stockton, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, owned by the Calgary Flames and proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's New York Islanders and AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, announce that the team has claimed ECHL All-Star forward Jack Combs from the Allen Americans.
Combs, 27, turned pro in 2009-10 after a five-year OHL career with the Kitchener Rangers and Saginaw Sirit. Since turning pro, the 5'11" winger has played a total of 150 games in the ECHL, 144 games in the AHL, 64 games in the former Central Hockey League and 14 games overseas in Russia and Sweden.
The St. Louis, Missouri native began this year playing Russia before playing 32 games with the Americans, scoring 22 goals and adding 34 assists for 56 points. He was suspended by the Americans back on January 12 after accepting an offer to play in Sweden for Björklöven, playing only 3 games and scoring 1 goal.
In his 150 career ECHL games played with the Alaska Aces, Trenton Devils, Colorado Eagles, Cincinnati Cyclones and Americans, Combs has scored over a point-per-game with 91 ECHL goals and 100 assists.
The Thunder's signature event, Thunder Goes Pink, returns for its ninth season this upcoming weekend. The ice will be painted pink, the team will wear black and pink uniforms, and event proceeds will benefit St. Joseph's Foundation - Breast Health Services.
