Greenville Swamp Rabbits News Release

Toledo, OH - Josh Nicholls scored with just 2:38 remaining in overtime on Tuesday as the Greenville Road Warriors (15-9-1), proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, earned their seventh comeback win this season in a thrilling 2-1 victory over the Toledo Walleye (17-4-3) at the Huntington Center.

"Defense wins championships," Head Coach Dean Stork said. "Offense wins games. If we continue to defend hard as units of five, we will be successful. We did that today."

The victory improves Greenville's point streak to a season-high six games (5-0-1). Between the pipes, Jason Missiaen (4-4-1) made 32 saves to earn the win. The victory also marked the Road Warriors' league-leading fifth win this season (5-8-0) when trailing after two periods.

Following 38 minutes of scoreless hockey, Toledo broke the deadlock at the 18:00 mark of the second period with Marek Tvrdon's sixth goal of the season. From the right side, Tyler Barnes raced through the Road Warriors' zone and behind the net, before he sent a crisp pass across for Tvrdon, who knocked it home from the back door.

Greenville countered at 4:15 of the third period when Chris McCarthy collected the puck behind the Walleye net and centered a chance for Sy Nukevitch, who pushed a one-timer past goaltender Neil Conway for his second goal of the season.

In overtime, the Road Warriors caught Toledo in a line change at 2:22 when Spencer Humphries found Nicholls at the blue line, who skated in on a breakaway and went forehand-to-backhand for his second game-winning goal this season.

The Road Warriors finished the game 0-for-4 on the power play and 2-for-2 on the penalty kill. Conway (2-0-1) made 32 saves, but suffered the loss.

Greenville outshot Toledo 34-33 and held its opponent under three goals for the fifth straight game.
