Rockford Aviators News Release
The Rockford Aviators led most of the night at Southern Illinois, but came up a run short in a 7-6 loss to the reigning Frontier League champion Miners on a walk-off sacrifice fly from Jon Eisen.
Chase Larsson hit a 3-run bomb in the third frame to give Rockford a 5-2 lead. His throw to the plate in the bottom of the ninth was right on target, but hit the back of the mound and allowed Tyler Stubblefield to score the game-winning run.
Matt Greener and Jereme Milons both had multi-hit games for the Aviators in the loss. Rockford falls to 3-18 on the season.
Game two of the series is slated for 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday night in Marion. RHP Drew Rucinski (1-3, 3.17) will go for his second straight win for Rockford. He will oppose LHP Richard Sullivan (1-2, 3.00). Catch the broadcast live beginning with the Dental Dimensions pre-game show on 100.5 NTA FM.
