Erie SeaWolves News Release

The SeaWolves could not get the bats going in game one of Tuesday night's doubleheader at Hadlock Field as they were shut out by the Portland Sea Dogs 2-0.

Portland got on the board in the last of the second against Erie starter Warwick Saupold. J.C. Linares and Tony Thomas each singled to start the inning. Travis Shaw hit into a fielders choice and Thomas was retired at second. After a Matt Spring strikeout, Peter Hissey doubled off the wall in left, scoring Linares for a 1-0 lead.

The Dogs added a run in the sixth on a Tony Thomas solo home run over the "Maine Monster" in left, making it 2-0.

The SeaWolves were led offensively by Hernan Perez who went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles. Perez has now hit safely in eight straight and in 21 of his last 22 games.

Portland starter Drake Britton tossed a complete game shutout and has not allowed a run in 16 innings pitched against Erie.

Saupold (4-3) took the loss allowing two runs on five hits with two walks and four strikeouts in six innings of work.
