
Chivas USA trades forward Casey Townsend

CARSON, Calif. (Friday, January 25, 2013) - Chivas USA announced today that the club has agreed to trade forward Casey Townsend to D.C. United in exchange for a 2014 MLS SuperDraft natural second-round pick. Per league and club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Townsend was drafted by Chivas USA with the fifth overall pick in last year's MLS SuperDraft. The 23-year-old University of Maryland product made 10 starts in 17 appearances for the Red-and-White, recording a goal and two assists in 907 minutes in his rookie campaign.
Chivas USA will kick off its ninth season when it hosts the Columbus Crew at The Home Depot Center for First Kick 2013 on Saturday, March 2, beginning at 7:30 p.m. PT.
