Burlington Bees News Release

BURLINGTON, Iowa - The Burlington Bees (57-59, 25-22) used a few big innings to put away the Peoria Chiefs (53-63, 18-29) with a 10-to-5 victory on Friday night. The Bees are now 7-1 in eight rubber match games in the second half of the season.

Friday's game featured great offense, outstanding defense, and solid pitching in a win for the Bees. The club put crooked numbers on the scoreboard in the second, fourth, and seventh inning.

Trailing 1-to-0 entering second inning, the Bees strung together four consecutive base hits to start the bottom of the second. Rashun Dixon, Max Muncy, Douglas Landaeta, and Chih-Fang Pan all had singles in the rally. After an out by Nick Rickles, Bobby Crocker walked with the bases loaded to bring in a run and give the Bees a 2-to-1 lead. Crocker also walked with the bases loaded to give the Bees a win in the bottom of the 14th inning in game one.

The Bees tacked on four more runs to their lead in the bottom of the fourth. Landaeta led off with his second hit, but gave way to Pan on a fielder's choice. Nick Rickles and Bobby Crocker hit back-to-back doubles; the latter drove in a pair of runs for Crocker.

Sean Jamieson also earned an RBI when Crocker scored on a groundout and Wade Kirkland drove in Jamieson with his team-leading 30th double. The Bees led 6-to-1 after four, and 7-to-1 after the sixth when Aaron Shipman hit a sacrifice fly.

Chris Lamb made his seventh start with the Bees and got through the fifth inning for only the second time in the seven starts. Lamb (1-2) earned his first win with the Bees after tossing a career-high 6.1 innings. The lefty struggled in the sev- enth and eventually allowed four earned runs in his start. Three of the runs came after Lamb had left the game.

The offense responded to the four-run top of the seventh with a three-run bottom of the seventh. The first four batters - Dixon, Muncy, Landaeta and Pan - all scored in the Bees' half of the seventh. Muncy and Rickles had RBIs and the Bees stole four bases off Peoria's catcher, Chadd Krist. The Chiefs also committed two of their three errors in the seventh. The Bees led 10-to-5 after the seventh and held on for the win. Michael Jensen (9-5) took the loss for the Chiefs.

The Bees finished the home stand 3-4 after taking two out of three with Peoria. The club commutes to Davenport for the next three days to play a three-game series with the Quad Cities River Bandits. The Bees took one of three in the only series they've played at Modern Woodmen Park this season.

Drew Granier (11-7) takes the hill in game one looking for his first victory over the River Bandits this season. First pitch of Saturday night's game is scheduled 7:00 p.m. CT.
