Greenville Drive News Release

Greenville, SC - One night after the Greenville Drive (52-56, 18-20) provided the offensive heroics at Fluor Field, it was the Charleston RiverDogs' (56-49, 18-21) turn to provide the offensive fireworks. All nine starters picked up at least one hit in a 17-hit rampage on Tuesday night, powering the RiverDogs to a 10-5 victory.

The RiverDogs took a lead they would not relinquish with a big six-run sixth inning, with most of the damage coming against Drive reliever Kevin Brahney (1-1). With one out and a man on first base, Reymond Nunez and Eduardo Sosa hit back-to-back singles, with Sosa's scoring a RiverDogs runner. After Brahney issued a walk to load the bases, Ben Gamel smoked a single through the box, scoring two and cutting the Drive lead to one. Robert Refsnyder then greeted new Drive arm Tyler Lockwood with a line-drive single of his own, plating two more and giving Charleston the lead. Two batters later, Francisco Arcia laced a single to center to score the sixth and final run of the inning.

Greenville got off to a good start in the bottom of the first against RiverDogs starter Bryan Mitchell. Keury De la Cruz walked with one out. Garin Cecchini followed and lined a single down the left field line, but ended up on third after Sosa misplayed the carom off the wall, which scored De la Cruz. David Renfroe then brought home Cecchini with a groundout to short, making it a 2-0 game.

Thanks to another Charleston error, the Drive added another run in the third. De la Cruz doubled to lead off the frame. Mitchell almost escaped the inning unscathed, but Henry Ramos' two out groundball to second was thrown away by Jamiel Orozco, which gave Greenville a three run lead.

The RiverDogs answered with a pair of runs in the fourth. Kelvin De Leon and Orozco lined back-to-back doubles to score a run, and Nunez followed with an RBI single to bring home Orozco. They also scored two in the eighth thanks to RBI doubles from Refsnyder and Arcia.

Greenville scored single runs in the fifth and seventh innings. Jose Garcia led off the fifth with a walk and came all the way around on a double by De la Cruz. In the seventh, Garcia started things off with a single and a stolen base. Cecchini brought him home with a double high off the Green Monster in left.

Mitchell picked up the victory for the RiverDogs and improved his record to 7-8. He allowed just one earned run in five innings and punched out five Drive hitters. Greenville starter Luis Diaz also went five innings, allowing two runs and seven hits. Nunez picked up four hits for the RiverDogs. Refsnyder continued his hot streak by going 3-3 with three RBIs. Gamel also collected three hits and two RBIs, while Arcia chipped in with two hits and two RBIs of his own. For the Drive, Cecchini and De la Cruz each picked up two hits and an RBI.

The Drive open the month of August with a special 11:05 start time on Wednesday morning. LHP Henry Owens (10-4, 5.24 ERA) will start on the mound for Greenville, while LHP Matt Bashore (1-3, 4.50 ERA) gets the call for Charleston.

It's "Camp Day" at Fluor Field during tomorrow's game, with many local summer camps and organizations taking part in the festivities and activities throughout the day. For more information call (864) 240-4500, or log onto GreenvilleDrive.com.
