Memphis Redbirds News Release

MEMPHIS, TN - Memphis snapped a three-game slide Monday night with a 5-4 victory against Round Rock at AutoZone Park.

Tied at 3-3 heading into the fifth inning, Memphis starter Shelby Miller notched his third 1-2-3 inning on the night in the top of the frame before the Redbirds picked up two runs in the bottom of the inning after a double steal by Eugenio Velez and Shane Robinson. A missed catch error by third baseman Matt Kata plated Velez and Robinson for the last two 'Birds runs on the night, the only two they'd need for the win.

A two-run shot in the eighth off reliever Eduardo Sanchez brought the Express within one run of the Redbirds, but Jess Todd and Victor Marte shut down Round Rock's offense to ensure the win.

Miller picked up his sixth win for the 'Birds allowing two runs on eight hits while fanning eight in seven solid innings of work. Marte nailed down his first save for Memphis with a scoreless ninth inning. Express starter Brad Snyder took the loss, giving up five runs, three earned, on six hits while walking one and striking out four across seven innings.

The 'Birds and Express wrap up their five-game series tomorrow with first pitched slated at 7:05 p.m. Memphis sends right-hander Michael Blazek to the mound to make his first Triple-A start on the season to face Round Rock southpaw Zach Jackson.
