'Wolves Fall in 11 to Aeros

The SeaWolves loss streak hits seven straight as they dropped the final game of a three-game series against the Akron Aeros, 7-6 at Canal Park in 11 innings.

Akron struck in the bottom of the first inning against Erie starter James Avery. With two outs, Thomas Neal singled and moved to second on a Nick Weglarz walk. Juan Diaz doubled home Neal for a 1-0 lead.

In the second, Roberto Perez tripled with one out and scored on a Tyler Holt sacrifice fly making it 2-0.

Erie got on the board in the top of the third against Akron starter Giovanni Soto. James McCann led off and blasted a solo home run to left, his second, making it a 2-1 game. The long ball was McCann's first since June 13 at Harrisburg.

The SeaWolves tied the game in the top of the fifth. McCann walked, Michael Rockett and Jamie Johnson both singled to load the bases. Niuman Romero cleared the bases with a three-run double down the left field line making it 6-4. Nick Castellanos singled and Jordan Lennerton was hit by a pitch to reload the bases. Avisail Garcia and Rawley Bishop each singled home runs, tying the game at 6-6.

The game remained tied until the bottom of the 11th. Bruce Rondon, who got the final out of the 10th, came back out to work the 11th. Henry led off, walked, stole second and moved to third on balk. Davis Stoneburner singled home Henry ending the game.

Rondon (0-1) took the loss as he allowed his first earned run.

Avery took the no-decision tossing eight innings allowing six runs on nine hits with a walk and four strikeouts.

The SeaWolves return home on Thursday night to take on the Richmond Flying Squirrels.7:05 First Pitch.
