BELOIT- Wis. - Miguel Sano's solo home run to left field in the 8th inning broke a tie and led the Snappers to a 4-3 win over the Kernels on Sunday afternoon. It was Sano's Midwest League-leading 18th home run of the season. Sano scored 3 of Beloit's 4 runs on the day.

Beloit tallied the four runs on only three hits. The loss was the 5th in a row for Cedar Rapids. Carmine Giardina (3-5) went four innings in relief for the Kernels, allowing two runs on two hits while striking out three and walking one. Mike Johnson started for Cedar Rapids and went four innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on one hit while striking out six and walking three.

Beloit scored an early two runs in the 1st inning, taking a 2-0 advantage. Nate Roberts led off the game with a walk and reached 3rd base on a single by Miguel Sano. Steven Liddle then reached on a RBI fielder's choice that scored Roberts and sent Sano to 2nd base as the Kernels were unable to record an out. As the next hitter Matt Koch struck out swinging Sano took off for 3rd base. Kernels catcher Abel Baker's throw to 3rd base skipped past the bag, allowing Sano to come home and score.

The Kernels tallied a run in the 2nd inning, cutting the deficit to 2-1. Frazier Hall was hit by a pitch from Snappers starter Matt Summers, leading off the inning. After a double from Gary Mitchell, Hall scored on Abel Baker's RBI groundout.

The Kernels took a 3-2 lead in the 3rd inning. Eric Stamets singled to lead off the frame and scored on a RBI triple by Alex Yarbrough. Andy Workman's RBI sacrifice fly to left field plated Yarbrough and gave the Kernels the lead. Beloit tied the game 3-3 in the 6th inning. Miguel Sano drew a leadoff walk and then scored on a RBI double by Steven Liddle.

Tyler Jones (1-2) recorded the win in relief for the Snappers. He went 2.1 innings and allowed no runs on three hits while striking out three. Corey Williams picked up his 11th save, pitching a 1-2-3 9th inning. Matt Summers started and went 5.2 innings, allowing three runs on five hits while striking out seven and walking one.
