Tonight's Game-- The RedHawks and Sounds meet again at 7:05 p.m. for the second game of their four-game series. Brian Bass makes his RedHawks debut after recently signing as a free agent with Houston.

Last Night-- A hail storm in the fifth inning ended Tuesday's game early as the RedHawks won 2-0 over the Sounds. Dallas Keuchel tossed five scoreless innings and earned his second career shutout. Keuchel (5-4) won for the first time in his last six starts, and despite giving up four hits, he faced the minimum due to two double plays, a pickoff, and a caught stealing. He struck out three and walked none. Sounds pitcher Brian Baker was matching Keuchel, retiring the first seven batters he faced and allowing one hit through three innings. In the fourth, Jimmy Paredes knocked a two-out RBI double to end a personal 0-for-16 drought and give the RedHawks a 1-0 lead. Brad Snyder added an RBI double in the fifth to make it 2-0. Scott Moore followed with a groundout, and after the play was over, the umpiring crew stopped the game as winds picked up and heavy rain began to fall. A couple of minutes later, dime-sized hail littered the field. Making the start in place of Mike Fiers, who was recalled to Milwaukee, Baker (1-3) allowed two runs and four hits over 4.2 innings. He struck out four and walked one.

Tonight's Probable Pitchers-- Brian Bass will make his RedHawks debut after signing as a free agent with Houston last week...Bass had been overseas with the Hanwha Eagles of the Korean Basebal Organization prior to his signing...He spent last season pitching for the Phillies Triple-A affiliate Lehigh Valley...Bass was the only pitcher in the International League to make as many as 28 starts and was third in the league in innings (158.1) and led the Iron Pigs with 105 strikeouts...He was originally drafted by the Royals in 2000 from Lee High School in Montgomery, Alabama...Bass has made 101 career Major League appearances with the Twins, Orioles, and Pirates and is 9-7 with a 5.16 ERA...Seth McClung will make his 10th appearance and ninth start for the Sounds...He did not figure in the decision Friday at home against Round Rock after allowing four runs and five hits over 5.2 IP...In three of his last six stars he's allowed two runs or less, but has just one win to show for it...He is limiting right-handers to just a .227 average, but lefties are hitting .347 against him...McClung has faced the RedHawks twice this season...After not allowing a hit in his first four innings, the RedHawks have tagged him for nine runs and 10 hits over his last 2.1 IP...McClung has played with four different organizations and is in his second go-round with the Sounds after playing for them in 2007...He is 26-34 with a 5.46 ERA in 177 career Major League appearances.

Quieting the Sounds-- Although it was rain-shortened, the RedHawks tossed their third shutout of the season last night as well as their second against Nashville. (2-0 on April 12.) Their current six-game home win streak has been bookended by a pair of shutouts. All three blankings have been very close, with the final score being 1-0 or 2-0, and the team has already matched its shutout total from last season. For pitcher Dallas Keuchel, it was his second career shutout, and it came exactly one year following his first shutout. On May 29, 2011 Keuchel pitched a seven-hit shutout against the Arkansas Travelers while playing for Double-A Corpus Christi.

Home Sweet Home-- After returning from a 6-6 road trip, the RedHawks began their 12-game homestand with their sixth consecutive win at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, a new season best. All the wins have been close, and their last eight straight at home overall have been decided by three runs or less. (Six decided by one or two runs.)

Snyder Swingin' It-- Brad Snyder is currently on a season-best seven-game hitting streak. He's collected only one hit in six of the seven games but is hitting .391 (9-for-23) with four homers and 10 RBIs.

Hot Bats-- Over their last 17 games, the RedHawks have scored 116 runs with 189 hits, including 28 homers. Not surprisingly, they've gone 11-6 during this stretch.

Staying in the Park-- After hitting 20 home runs over a nine-game stretch, the RedHawks have been limited to just one in their last four games (Angel Sanchez, May 28). Even with the recent drought, the RedHawks are third in the league behind Round Rock (61) and Sacramento (60) with 59 home runs. The RedHawks hit 19 homers in 25 games in April. Their 40 homers this month (27 games) is four more than anyone else in the PCL.

Powerful Powell-- All four of Landon Powell's home runs have come during his current nine-game hitting streak. He's gone 13-for-29 (.448) with 11 RBIs. Powell had just six RBIs for the season until the recent surge.

Paredes Cooling Down-- After a stretch in which he collected 11 multi-hit games in 13 overall, Jimmy Paredes is 3-for-23 over his last five games and 1 for his last 17.

Against the Sounds-- The RedHawks are 8-1 against the Sounds and have won the last six straight...Their four-game sweep in Nashville in April was the team's first road sweep since July 20-23, 2009 in New Orleans...The one game the RedHawks lost, they led 6-5 heading into the ninth, but fell 7-6 in 10 innings...Despite hitting just .248 against the Nashville pitching staff, RedHawks pitching has been outstanding, posting a 2.19 ERA...Scott Moore has been the team's offensive leader, hitting .421 (8-for-19) with a homer and six RBIs in seven games...These teams next meet June 19-22 in Nashville.
